You couldn’t make this up but the mighty corporations of IBM and Microsoft have teamed up with the Roman Catholic Church to formulate an AI ethics taskforce!
The Iconoclast here gasps with incredulity.
Echoing something I previously blogged about……..Mr Brad Smith of Microsoft said agreeing a universal ethical paradigm on artificial intelligence may prove impossible because across human history people had not agreed a single ethical framework to rule their lives.
Have I missed something but are IBM and Microsoft at the forefront of AI technology? Is the Roman Catholic Church the custodian of ethics?
Strange bedfellows indeed.
How about Linux developers and Humanists come together to form an Open Forum together with AI researchers to freely discuss ethical concerns? At least it would give an alternative, more impartial point of view.
