AI algo predicts quantum wave functions

The University of Warwick in collaboration with the Technical University of Berlin and the University of Luxembourg have come up with an AI machine learning algorithm to help predict quantum wave functions and therefore speed-up the design of new molecules or materials.

What previously had taken months of computing time with high performance machines can now be carried out on a laptop or mobile phone in seconds. The prediction of wave functions in molecules determine their properties and their potential use in medicine or industrial processes.

One hopes the use of this algo will be for the good of mankind but somehow I know there will be those who would want such a sophisticated algo to design molecules for nefarious purposes.
