Burger company ‘beefs up’ tech

The global burger company McDonald’s has acquired Apprente with a view to automating the drive-thru experience.

Apprente only launched in 2017 with the goal to be the best customer orientated, AI voice based conversational system. They soon realised that their system would be well suited to QSR’s (quick service restaurants), in particular; drive-thrus. Obviously McDonald’s thought so too.

However, McDonald’s isn’t just interested in conversational systems, it’s also looking at ‘smart’ menu panels which adjust themselves according to external factors such as the weather. Promoting ice cream on hot days and maybe steaming cups of coffee on cold ones.

So, McDonald’s are hiring but not necessarily just for food preparation, engineers and scientists too to join the McD Tech Team!
