Google’s Deep Mind shapes up proteins

The London based Deep Mind AI lab has just solved one of the biggest mysteries of biology, namely… the predicted shape of proteins.

Knowing the shape of a protein can help with a drug design for such things as cancer, dementia and disease.

The AI discovery will be further tested to check for accuracy but it is believed to be on a par with lab experiments which sometimes take decades to determine a protein’s shape.

Whilst the AI algo works well for single proteins, the race is on for an algo which solves for multiple proteins which work together, such as those which form the building blocks for life.
