Amazon’s drivers now have a spy in the cab. Amazon have installed cameras to observe the driver through the course of the day and uses AI algos to spot potentially dangerous behaviour. If the driver yawns it will advise them to take a 15 minute break. If they are distracted by something then that will be logged and reported, even hard braking will cause a recording event to be triggered. Presumably this is all to improve safety and driving standards. The spying system called Driveri comes from a Californian start-up called Netradyne. The unit has four cameras, one for the driver, one for the road ahead and two pointing out the sides, so it least it will contextualise driver actions. I doubt Amazon will be alone in rolling out the AI spy amongst its fleet. Perhaps it will appear on the flight deck one day?
