Transport for London (TFL) in association with Vivacity Labs have been using their sensors equipped with AI algorithms to detect the methods of transport Londoners use to get to work. It appears the sensors are 98% accurate. Apparently all video footage is destroyed within a few seconds leaving purely anonymous data. Apparently TFL are to deploy more Vivacity AI sensors around London for data gathering and transport planning. The good news is that the data will be used in this instance to qualify where investment in new cycling routes is most needed.
I wonder if the algo can differentiate between a tandem and a standard bicycle? Or a tandem ridden by one cyclist? Clowns on unicycles? I am sure Vivacity Labs have the answer.
